Biography
Prof. Jürgen Karl holds a degree in chemical engineering from Technical University of Munich. In 2007 he bacem Full Professor at the Institute for Thermal Engineering, Graz University of Technology. Since 2011 Prof. Karl heads the Chair of Energy Process Engineering at the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Germany, which is part of the newly founded Energy Campus of Nuremberg (EnCN). As coordinator of several European R&D projects and founder of the start-up company agnion Inc. he was mainly responsible for the development of the Heatpipe Reformer, an innovative indirectly heated steam gasification technology for the synthesis of Second Generation Fuels.

Biography
Dr. Jianbing Li is a professor in the environmental engineering program at the University of Northern British Columbia in Canada. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Regina in 2003. He has research interests in environmental remediation, energy recovery from waste materials, environmental modeling and risk assessment, and environmental systems analysis. He has published more than 180 journal and conference papers. He served as a guest editor for three international journals, and acted as a committee member for many international conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for many international journals and a variety of national and international research funding organizations.
